Hundreds walk for life

Close to 1,000 people, including mothers with babies, took part in the Kentucky Right to Life Association’s 40th Walk for Life Sept. 8. Walkers gathered at Trinity High School, 4011 Shelbyville Road, where Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz gave the invocation. He acknowledged the clergy sexual abuse crisis, saying “these are difficult times for families in the Catholic Church” and noting the church is dealing with “issues of truthfulness.”

He also said it was a “great day to stand up for the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.” The archbishop asked that participants “stand with people whose dignity is being challenged.” Following the invocation, participants headed out under an overcast sky on the 5K walk which took them east down Shelbyville Road toward the Mall St. Matthews.
