House of Ruth’s annual Dining Out for Life fundraiser is set for Nov. 16

RecordLogo-FHouse of Ruth will hold its 20th annual Dining Out for Life fundraiser on Nov. 16 to support its services to those affected by HIV/AIDS. The public is urged to dine at one of 46 restaurants in the Louisville area. Participating restaurants will donate 25 percent of their gross sales Nov. 16 to the charity.

Since the fundraiser’s inception two decades ago, restaurants have donated a total of $842,000 to House of Ruth. Last year’s event yielded $75,000.

Eateries participating this year range from high-end bistros to local ice cream shops in several area neighborhoods. The fundraiser will last all day — from breakfast through dessert. For a listing of restaurants, visit www.houseofruth.net.

House of Ruth was established in 1992 by eight friends, including four Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. The charity provides housing and other services to people who have HIV/AIDS and other people who have been affected by the virus.

In 2015, House of Ruth assisted 600 individuals, according to its website. Its headquarters are in the Shelby Park neighborhood an it provides housing at 17 different sites in the Louisville area for individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.
