For the third year in a row, Holy Spirit Church has collected school supplies and school clothes for the Community Catholic Center (CCC) in the Portland area of the city.

The collections occurred during the month of July and the parish, at 3345 Lexington Road, this year donated more than 80 backpacks, hundreds of folders and notebooks and other school supplies to the center.

Eighth-grade students and their families donated gently used navy pants and shorts and white polo shirts to CCC families.

Students from the parish also prepared the backpacks individually for each Community Catholic student.

Community Catholic Center helps students in West Louisville — where there are no Catholic schools — to attend Catholic elementary and high schools and offers tutoring and other programs for family involvement in the education of their children.
