Highlands Cup 5K and breakfast will help Highlands Community Ministries

Highlands Community Ministries (HCM), sponsored by churches in the Highlands neighborhood, will benefit from the Highlands Cup 5K Run and Walk on Oct. 3.

Registration is now open for the run and registration forms are available at www.rivercityraces.com or at Fleet Feet Sports, located at 2239 Taylorsville Road.

The race will begin and end at Douglass Boulevard Christian Church and is routed through the Cherokee Park scenic loop. The cost to enter is $25.

A pancake breakfast will follow the event at the church at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $5 for adults, $4 for race participants and $3 for kids 12 and under.

The race and breakfast, along with the Empty Bowls fundraiser on Oct. 8, are the largest fundraisers for HCM.

Proceeds support the various ministries it offers, including a food pantry, adult day care, Meals on Wheels and financial assistance for people who are impoverished.
