High schools to hold fund-raising events next month

Two area Catholic high schools — Mercy Academy and Assumption High School — are holding fund-rasing events in early February.

Assumption will hold its 32nd annual “Rocket Spectacular Benefit Dinner Feb. 2. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. following by dinner at 7 p.m. with a live auction to follow.

This year the event’s theme is “Boot Scootin’ Spectacular,” and those attending are invited to ware western clothes. Tickets are $75 per person or $600 for a table of eight. To purchase tickets, call 458-6258 or go online at ahsrockets.org.

Mercy Academy’s “Benefit Off Broadway” will be held Feb. 9 at the school at 5801 Fegenbush Lane. A cocktail hour and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. with the dinner to follow at 6:45 p.m. Twenty tickets will be sold on each “wheel of chance” item available during the evening. The items include a bottle of Maker’s Mark autographed by University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong; a Dyson multi-floor vacuum; a $200 Kroger gift card; a senior picture package from Miller Photography; University of Kentucky basketball tickets; a vintage blue fox fur and more than 30 other items.

Valet parking will be available and dress is “coat and tie.” Tickets are $75 each; a table of eight for $600; and a table of 10 for $750. Reservations should be made by Jan. 29 by calling Diane Napper at 671-2021 or online at dnapper@mercyjaguars.com.
