Girls Scouts receive awards during Cathedral ceremony

More than 40 Girl Scouts and one adult leader were honored during a religious awards ceremony March 6 at the Cathedral of the Assumption. Father William D. Hammer, pastor of St. Margaret Mary Church, presided at the service. Jennifer Wilcox, chief operating officer of the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana presented the awards.

Awards were presented to the following:

  • Debbie Minton, a parishioner of St. Luke Church, received the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal. The award recognizes an adult who serves Catholic youth through the Girl Scouts.
  • The Spirit Alive Award for high school age Scouts was presented to two Girl Scouts from Troop 169, which is sponsored by St. Gabriel Church. They are: Rebecca Dever of St. Gabriel and Rebecca James of St. Athanasius.
  • The I Live My Faith Award for grades 4, 5 and 6 was presented to 10 Girl Scouts. They are:
    Troop 366, St. Patrick Church — Kate Kolokowsky
    Troop 467, St. Patrick — Anna Kolokowsky.
    Troop 613, St. Gabriel — Cheyenne Crane, Gabrielle Hillerich, Rachael Miller and Melanie Sherrard.
    Troop 715, St. Michael Church — Bella Sileo.
    Troop 855, St. Margaret Mary — Peyton Burnham and Eden Jessie.
    Troop 1496, St. James Church, Elizabethtown — Ellalee Bullock.
  • The Family of God Award for grades 2 and 3 was presented to 30 Girl Scouts. They are:
    Troop 64, St. Margaret Mary — Sophie Ayre, Kate Bonar, Ainsley Brown, Josie Horlander, Audrey Huber, Berkley Hume, Catherine Miller, Anabella Seigfreid, Kristen Simon and Addison Wilcox.
    Troop 1919, St. Michael — Lily Bratcher, Addison Maquire, Maia Marin, Gwyneth Schulte and Sofia Sileo.
    Troop 2269, St. Michael — Ellie Eibel, Mila Foster, Anna Johnson, Kaitlyn Long, Lindsey Mangeot, Ava Lou Mattingly, Mallory McGee, Laney O’Connell, Millie Raisor, Evelyn Schulte and Lydia Sils.
    Troop 2240, St. Aloysius Church, Pewee Valley, Ky. — Meredith Feger, Nyah Kolibab, Olivia Manikhong and Kate Solon.
