Foster Care Awareness Event March 31

The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Family Ministries and Pro-Life Office will sponsor a foster care awareness event on March 31 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at St. John Paul II Church, 3042 Hikes Lane.

Katherine Easley, a representative from Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services will provide an overview of the foster care system, describe the current foster care crisis and how the state is working to help get kids placed more quickly, and explain why the state is reaching out to the faith community for support. Jonathan Butler, Life Coaching and Ministry Development Director, Orphan Care Alliance, will discuss how to equip Christians to connect them to opportunities to serve children in foster care. Ed Harpring, Pro-Life Coordinator for the Archdiocese of Louisville, will discuss ways to volunteer, mentor, and serve foster children. Lisa Owen will share the experiences that she and her husband have had as a foster care and adoptive parents.
