Father William D. Hammer, pastor of St. Margaret Mary Church, was recognized by the Institute for Healthy Air, Water, and Soil as an Ambassador for Health in All Policies.

Father Hammer joins 31 other community leaders around the city in receiving this environmental honor.

Father Hammer is being recognized for his leadership in the “Green for Good” project, a parish-wide initiative aimed at reducing air pollution.

The Institute launched the Ambassadors for Health in All Policies to “build a well-grounded, long-term culture of health in Louisville,” said Christina Lee Brown, founder of the institute.

“We have selected thoughtful caring health leaders who are helping all of the individuals and institutions they work with to understand that all decisions must always be made through the lens of health,” Brown said.

The founding class of ambassadors was recognized at a reception April 18 at the Frazier History Museum.
