Father Noël Mueller, a Louisville native, celebrates 50 years as a priest

Benedictine Father Noël Mueller, a monk of St. Meinrad Archabbey in southern Indiana, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his ordination as a priest this year.

Father Mueller, a native of Louisville, professed monastic vows on Aug. 15, 1963, and was ordained Sept. 22, 1968.

He served for more than a decade at St. Meinrad’s mission in Huaraz, Peru. He taught English and religion,  coordinated the Office of Liturgy and Marriage Encounter for the local diocese and had other duties from 1969 to 1980.

He also taught at St. Meinrad College for 13 years and has held several positions in the monastery and at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology. He has served as guest master, as associate director of continuing studies and as dean for housing and food services and as secretary to the archabbot.

He currently serves as formation dean for the seminary and as a spiritual director and retreat director.
