Father Charles Schoenbaechler dies at 97

Resurrectionist Father Charles Schoenbaechler, 97, died in Louisville on April 17.

He was ordained in St. Peter’s Cathedral, London, Ontario, in 1942. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, he served at St. Mary’s College in St. Mary, Ky., from 1943 to 1957. He also served at St. Cecilia Church from 1957 to 1966 and taught at Holy Angels Academy from 1966 to 2008. Father Schoenbaechler also celebrated the Latin Mass at St. Martin of Tours Church.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Rose Limb; many nieces and nephews; and his caregivers and friends, Patsy Heck and Bob Rickert.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 22 at St. Martin of Tours Church, 639 S. Shelby St. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Congregation of the Resurrection, 515 D S. Shelby St., Louisville, Ky. 40202.
