Father Anthony Olges dies at 72

Father H. Anthony Olges, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, died July 2. He was 72 and had been a priest for 46 years.

Father Olges, a native of Louisville who grew up a member of St. Bartholomew Church, served as a pastor or associate pastor of 11 parishes before retiring in 2014. He served as associate of St. Rita, St. Pius X, St. Stephen Martyr churches. He served as pastor of St. Polycarp, St. Vincent dePaul, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, St. Therese, St. Denis, Holy Family, St. Brigid and St. James churches.

Father Olges also served  on the planning commission of the archdiocese and as an advisory board member of Holy Cross High School.

He is survived by his sisters, Rita Clark and Sarah Holden (Steve), and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bartholomew, 2042 Buechel Bank Road, on July 6 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, on July 5 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at St. Bartholomew Church prior to the funeral July 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
