‘Electronics day drop off’ planned at two parishes

An “electronics drop off day” to support Catholic Charities of Louisville will be held March 28 at St. Michael Church, 3705 Stone Lakes Drive in Jeffersontown, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and at St. Francis Xavier Church, 155 Stringer Lane in Mt. Washington, Ky., from 9 a.m. to noon.

The event at St. Francis Xavier will include free paper shredding, too.

Items that can be recycled include electronic cables, CD-ROM drives, cellular phones, circuit boards, computer speakers, CPU’s, CRT monitors, docking stations, DVD players, fax machines, hard drives, keyboards, laptops, LCD monitors, mainframe computers, mice, microwaves, modems, PDAs, copiers, printers, processor chips, telephones, scanners, UPS battery back-ups, television and more.

Items that cannot be accepted include batteries, light bulbs, ballasts and appliances.

Most items will be accepted free, though a fee will apply to TVs, LCD and CRT monitors and microwaves.

The fee is as follows: $5 for the first item, $10 for the second item and $15 dollars for the third item.
