As Lent drew to an end and Easter approached, children in the Archdiocese of Louisville anticipated the resurrection in the way they know best — with Easter egg hunts.
The youth group from St. Gabriel Church hosted an Easter egg hunt for children living on the campus of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul last weekend. Dozens of children — from babies to preteens — hunted eggs in the grassy play area outside the DePaul Apartments, a media release from the society said. The apartments provide housing for homeless women and their children.
The children also ate a picnic lunch, played basketball and had their faces painted.
Preschoolers at St. Dominic Church in Springfield, Ky., took part in an Easter egg hunt before they departed for spring break.
In addition, Catholic Charities of Loiuisville held an Easter egg hunt in mid-March for the charity’s refugee children. The Easter bunny made an appearance at that hunt, too.
Catholic Charity’s Sister Visitor Center also reached out to families in need by distributing about 300 Easter baskets. The center created about 100 baskets and handed out about 200 others that were made by other groups, including Church of the Ascension.
