Deacon Thomas E. Box, 68, dies

Deacon Thomas E. Box died on April 21. He was 68 years old.

Deacon Box was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Louisville in 1984.

He served at Resurrection Church from 1984 to 1995 and at St. Bartholomew Church from 1995 to the present day. In 2012, he was also assigned to St. Ignatius Church.

He also worked at Bell South for 25 years and at Acuative for 15 years. Deacon Box was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. “Becky” VonBokern Box; three sons, Shannon, Greg and Jamie; four grandchildren; four sisters, Sharon Ferguson, Vonda Lockhart, Velva Thomas and Patricia Glotzbach. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be April 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Bartholomew, 2042 Buechel Bank Road.

The funeral Mass will be April 29 at 2 p.m. at St. Bartholomew, which will be followed by a reception at the church. A private burial will take place April 30.
