Community cleanup set for Portland neighborhood

Catholic Charities of Louisville and Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville are inviting volunteers to take part in the “Love Your Neighborhood” event Sept. 21 in the Portland neighborhood.

Volunteers are needed to clean up streets; do landscaping, fence and gutter repair; paint and more, according to Catholic Charities.

The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and lunch will be provided.

The event is part of a nationwide initiative called “Welcoming America” aimed at helping communities feel included, according to the press release.
