Communion minister formation sessions set for fall

Communion Minister Formation sessions will be offered on Sept. 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 7813 Shelbyville Road.

The one-session program is for those preparing to serve as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion as well as for those currently serving but have not attended this program in the past, according to an announcement from the Office of Worship.

Topics will include the theology of the Eucharist, liturgical ministry and the practical aspects of the role of the communion minister.

Several communion minister formation update sessions, for ministers needing a mandate renewal, are also planned. The dates are:

  • Sept. 21 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 747 Harrison Ave.
  • Sept. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Theresa Church in Rhodelia, Ky.
  • Oct. 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 508 Breckenridge Lane.
  • Oct. 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Albert the Great Church, 1395 Girard Drive.
  • Dec. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 5431 Johnsontown Road.
