Sarah Reed Harris has been appointed managing director of the Center for Interfaith Relations (CIR). She has been serving as assistant director of the organization since May of 2012.
Turney P. Berry, chairman of the CIR board, said that Harris’ “passion for our work made her the natural choice for managing director, and we look forward to her leadership as we expand the scope and reach of the Festival of Faiths.”
Harris spent her early years in Bogota, Colombia, and moved to Louisville with her family in 1971. She is the daughter of the Right Rev. David B. Reed, retired Episcopal Bishop of Kentucky, and civic leader Susan Guise. Harris is a graduate of Wellesley College and received a master of public administration degree from the University of Louisville.
Prior to joining the center, Harris was a banker in Boston and in Louisville. Then for a decade she was involved in local community development efforts, concentrating in workforce and urban business development services.
She joined the CIR two years ago and has coordinated the last three Festivals of Faith. She and her husband, Charles, have three daughters.
