John Paul II Academy eighth-graders, above, carried the gifts during a special Mass to mark the school’s 10th anniversary on Aug. 19 at St. Pius X Church, which shares a campus with the regional school. John Paul II Academy was created in 2006 by a merger of three parish schools — St. Pius, St. Barnabas and St. Bartholomew.
Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz presided at last week’s celebration and called on students who answered his questions during the homily. The school also sang “Happy Birthday” to the archbishop who turned 69 on Aug. 18.
