St. Pius X Church hosted a Neighborhood Senior and Family Concert July 2 in observance of Independence Day. Among the 150 people who attended were Jackie and Elizabeth Aud, above, and Jack Dentinger and Jim Flaherty, below. The free event, sponsored by the parish senior team, was held indoors and before dark to make it easier for seniors to attend. It included desserts and snacks and two sets of American music, including  the national anthem provided by The Kentucky Brass, a quintet directed by Jim Recktenwald. The concert concluded with the singing of “God Bless America.” The parish hopes to hold the event annually.
