Catholic University professor will present ‘Girls in Science’ Aug. 8

girls-science-wDr. Sandra Hanson, a professor of sociology at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., will present the program “Girls in Science” Why So Few?” from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at the main branch of the Louisville Free Public Library, 301 York St.

The program will focus on the reasons there are still so few opportunities for girls and women in the field of science, according to a statement from the library. ”This gender-crossing presentation addresses a pressing question — who will do science? The goal: To find the factors that contribute to the encouragement of all youth in science,” said the statement.

The lecture is free and open to the public. To register call 574-1623.
