St. Francis of Assisi student volunteers Mary Claire Stukenborg, Aliana Conway, Ritesh Dhakal and Eliza Gallagher, from left, introduced 16-year-old Saidi Alenge, a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to sidewalk chalk art during a World Refugee Day celebration June 3 at the Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services center on West Market street. The festivities included performances from different refugee groups, an international food buffet and games and activities for kids. Organizers of the yearly event said it’s meant to celebrate and show support for those refugees assisted by Catholic Charities and the entire refugee community in Louisville.
