Catechist Rob Richards of All Saints Church in Taylorsville, Ky., has received “Catechist Honors” from Catechist magazine.
Richards, who has served as a catechist for five years, teaches seventh- and eighth-grade classes at All Saints. The award citation said, “His commitment to his faith shines in and out of the classroom.”
He combines exercise and outdoor experiences and retreats into his lessons and has developed a program to help his students who are bullied, the citation said.
Asked to give advice to other catechists, Richards told the magazine, “Be genuine with the kids” and “Make the subject relatable to the things students experience in their lives.”
