Adrian Dominican Sister Mary Rita Gleason, 96, dies

Adrian Dominican Sister Mary Rita Gleason, formerly Sister Ann Catherine Gleason, died Dec. 26 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She was 96 and had been a Dominican for 79 years.

Sister Gleason, a native of Clayburg, N.Y., served as an educator in Illinois and Florida for 25 years and later worked in development.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, Sister Gleason served as the director of development at St. Catharine College in St. Catharine, Ky., from 1985 to 1989.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Jean Ferrin of Weston, Fla., and members of her religious community.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 30 and burial was at the Adrian Dominican Sisters Cemetery.
