The following is a listing of Catholic community events in central Kentucky.

SERVICES & DEVOTIONS

The St. Serra Club of Louisville, which promotes religious vocations, will hold a Holy Hour for vocations at 12:30 p.m. June 10 in the chapel behind the altar at St. Margaret Mary Church, 7813 Shelbyville Road. All are welcome.

St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in New Haven, Ky., will hold a Corpus Christi procession on June 7 at 2 p.m. 

The Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 S. Fifth St., will hold a Vigil Mass in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 6:30 p.m. on June 11, when the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart.
The Mass is part of a series of events that the Cathedral has planned to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. The final event, an Independence Day Mass, is planned for July 4 at 9:30 a.m., preceding a civic celebration scheduled at the nearby Metro Hall at 11 a.m.

ALUMNI EVENTS

Holy Rosary Academy’s class of 1976 will hold a 50-year reunion on July 18 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Rooster’s Restaurant, 5338 Bardstown Road. Interested alumnae who have not been contacted are asked to reach out to Barbara Heeb Smith at smith2660@bellsouth.net.

St. Xavier High School, 1609 Poplar Level Road., invites alumni from the graduating classes of 1961, 1971, 1981, 1991, 1996, 2006 and 2016 to attend their respective class reunions on June 13.

The Flaget Alumni Association’s next meeting and luncheon will be held June 10 at noon in the Elk’s Club #8, 2824 Klondike Lane, across from St. Martha Church. The speaker will be Steve Reed, Flaget’s last football coach. Lunch is $10. For more information, visit Flaget.org

HERE AND THERE

The Young Catholic Professionals Louisville Chapter is hosting its next Executive Speaker Series on June 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Epiphany Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road. The speaker is Chase Cloutier from St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology. RSVP at YCPlouisville.org

A walking tour of St. Louis Cemetery, 1167 Barret Avenue, will be presented on June 7 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The tour guides will be Steve Wiser of the Louisville Historical League and Tim Tomes of the Archdiocese of Louisville.

The Ladies of Good Shepherd will hold a Card Party for a Cause on June 9 at Lehmann Hall, 3525 Rudd Avenue. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. Admission is $8 and includes lunch and a door prize drawing. SUPPORT GROUPS

A NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) family support group is offered at St. Albert the Great Church, 1395 Girard Dr., on the third Sunday of the month from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the Parish Life Center. The group is designed to provide an open and supportive environment for those caring for a person with mental illness, including anxiety, depression, addiction, suicidal ideation or other diagnoses. All are welcome.

A grief support group for those who have lost someone to addiction or substance use disorder — GRASP (Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing) —​​ meets at Holy Trinity Church, 501 Cherrywood Road, in the multipurpose building on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. For additional information, email Lindacicca@yahoo.com.

The Hope and Healing Grief Group for those touched by the loss of a loved one to substance use or addiction meets at St. Albert the Great Church, 1395 Girard Drive, on the third Wednesday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Center. EDUCATION & ENRICHMENT

The Adult Christian Enrichment Program of St. Bernadette Church is offering a series of classes via Zoom. The programs are offered on Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The next classes will take place June 11 and 12 and will cover “Sirach: On Divine Providence within History.”

The Archdiocese of Louisville Ministry Institute will offer a variety of faith formation classes this summer at the Maloney Center, 1200 S. Shelby St., unless otherwise noted.

  • Thomas Merton and Christian Humanism: Responding to the Technological Age, June 9, 9 a.m. to noon.
  • The Young and the Restless: Learning from the example of young saints and their witnesses, June 9, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Intersections of Faith and Science in the Classroom (for kindergarten to fifth-grade teachers and catechists), June 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bellarmine University in Centro Hall. The cost is $30; lunch is included.
  • Intersections of Faith and Science in the Classroom (for sixth- to 12th-grade teachers and catechists), June 11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bellarmine University in Centro Hall. The cost is $30; lunch is included. 
  • Steadfast Discipleship: The model of Old Testament Women in Scripture, June 11, 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Steadfast Discipleship: The model of New Testament Women in Scripture, June 11, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Community Education Series at Nazareth Home will host its next event on June 24 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Highlands Campus Chapel, 2000 Newburg Road.

A Bible study led by Father Joe Rankin will be held at 6:30 p.m. on June 9 at St. Rita Church, 8709 Preston Highway. The topic is, “While we were still helpless… .”
