Spalding University will confer 585 degrees during commencement exercises May 9 at The Galt House Hotel.

The school’s 167 undergraduate and 418 graduate students will hear from 1996 Olympic gold medalist Dominique Dawes at the ceremony. Dawes, a Catholic convert, will be the keynote speaker and will receive an honorary degree.

Among this year’s graduates are a family trio — dubbed the Colbert Cohort — earning doctoral degrees in education leadership. They are Brandon Colbert, his wife Danielle Colbert and his grandmother, Kim Colbert.

“We are proud to celebrate the Class of 2026 and everything they have accomplished,” said Dr. Anne Kenworthy, president of Spalding University in a media release. “Dominique Dawes will deliver a send-off worthy of everything our graduates will go on to do, and we are thrilled to welcome her.”

Spalding was founded in 1814 by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and is named for the congregation’s foundress, Mother Catherine Spalding.
