Students from St. Aloysius School, St. Margaret Mary School, Sacred Heart Academy and youth from St. Patrick Church and Immaculate Conception Church in La Grange partnered with Love the Hungry to vacuum seal close to 24,000 fortified meals March 5 at a packaging center in Jeffersontown.
The meals were donated to Operation Ukraine, a nonprofit group working to provide emergency assistance to Ukrainian children and families who have fled to Poland to escape the war in their country.
Love the Hungry, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is a local nonprofit that has donated more than seven million fortified meals to hungry children and families in 29 countries, according to a press release from the group.
