Among the objects contained in the Archdiocese of Louisville’s archives are the rings and pectoral crosses belonging to several bishops, including Bishop William George McCloskey, the archdiocese’s fourth bishop, whose cross and ring are displayed on the left above.
Items from the archdiocesan archives include diaries of Bishop Benedict Joseph Flaget, the diocese’s first bishop. Pages of his 1815 diary are seen above.
A letter dated September 22, 1932, below, was sent to Bishop John A. Floersh from St. Katharine Drexel, foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. In the letter she discusses the spiritual needs of black and Native American people.
