Sister Sharon Blank of St. Gabriel School dies at 72

Sister of St. Francis Sharon Marie Blank, 72, died July 5 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She had been a Sister of St. Francis of Oldenburg, Ind., for 55 years.

Sister Blank, a native of Louisville, ministered in education in Missouri, Indiana and Kentucky. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served as principal of Our Mother of Sorrows School from 2000 to 2006. In 2006, she began teaching at St. Gabriel School, where she served until her death.

She is survived by her sisters, Sister of St. Francis Sharon Blank and Sharlene Bruns.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 11 at the Sisters of St. Francis convent chapel. Burial followed in the convent cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis at P.O. Box 100, Oldenburg, Ind., 47036, or at OldenburgFranciscans.org.
