Students win ‘Horsing Around with Art’ awards

Catholic school students were among winners in the Kentucky Derby Museum “Horsing Around with Art” contest.

Hannah Johnson, a junior at Mercy Academy, won the contest’s “Thoroughbred Award.” Mercy junior Katelyn Warren won the “Winning Colors” Award.

In the high school division, Mercy junior  Cassidy Boyd won first place.

In the middle school division, Jaden Peyton, an eighth-grader from St. Bernard School placed second. St. Margaret Mary School seventh-grader Mia Brehm placed third.

Kuzey Palmer, an eighth-grader at St. Mary Academy, won the sculpture award in the middle school division.

The competition is open to students in first through 12th grades. The entries are on exhibit at the Kentucky Derby Museum through Feb. 18. The winners were recognized at a ceremony on Feb. 13.
