St. Xavier math teacher receives Theordore James Ryken Award

St.X logoSt. Xavier High School math teacher John Zickel, was honored with the Theodore James Ryken Award during a Mass Dec. 2 celebrating the feast of St. Francis Xavier.

The Ryken Award, named after the founder of the Xaverian Brothers, “is given to a St. X faculty or staff member who dedicates his or her life to furthering the mission of a Xaverian education,” said a statement from the school.

The recipient must also demonstrate a commitment to proclaiming the Gospel, participating in the school’s community of faith and for nurturing members of the community, the statement said.
