A group of St. Xavier High School students, including Chris Hurst, at right, worked on headstones Oct. 8 for the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office initiative “Be A Memory Maker.” The program provides headstones for the graves of indigent people.

The project to make headstones was started three years ago by Bobby Hartlage, a parishioner of St. Benedict Church in Lebanon Junction, Ky. In the past three years, with the help of St. Xavier students, Hartlage has made more than 200 headstones.
