Sister Myrna Tordillo, a Scalabrinian Missionary Sister, will be the speaker at the Asian and Pacific Islander Day of Reflection on Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maloney Center, 1200 S. Shelby St. Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz will celebrate Mass to open the day of reflection.
The day’s theme is “People of Mercy.” Sister Tordillo is the assistant director of the U.S. bishops’ Secretariat of Cultural Diversity in the Church/Asian and Pacific Island Affairs.
An announcement from the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry (OMM) said the event aims to “identify the pastoral needs of the Asian-Pacific community, affirm the gifts and contributions of Asian and Pacific Island Catholics” and provide them “more opportunities to engage in the life of the church and shape its evangelizing mission.”
