Korean community to celebrate harvest

The Korean community will celebrate the traditional Korean Harvest with a Mass at noon Sept. 22 at St. Aloysius Church in Pewee Valley, Ky.

The Korean Thanksgiving, called Hangawi, is a major harvest festival and a three-day holiday in Korea. For the harvest season, Korean families take the festival time to thank their ancestors for providing to them rice and fruits.

The Korean Harvest Festival is also time when Koreans celebrate the family and give thanks for their blessings, according to a news release from the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry. A celebration will follow the noon Mass on the 22nd. For additional information, call the church at 241-8516.
