Health fairs to be held at parish, Mercy Sacred Heart

Two health fairs will be held at a local parish and at a residential community for the elderly on Sept. 25.

St. Edward Church, 9608 Sue Helen Drive, will sponsor its “Community Health Fair” from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 25. The event will be held in the Parish Hall and gymnasium and will include activities and information booths for all ages.

Businesses and organizations will offer activities such as flu shots, bone density tests, vision assessments, free neck and shoulder massages, and CPR and AED demonstrations. Door prizes and refreshments will also be provided.

A free health fair will also be held at Mercy Sacred Heart, 2120 Payne St., on Sept. 25 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will include dementia screenings, balance and gait testing, carotid artery scans, blood pressure and glucose testing and wellness information. Vendors and organizations that offer health services for seniors will be on hand, including adult daycare services, neighborhood medical care agencies, home health care providers, senior consulting services and others.
