Deacon Tim Ayers blessed “Molly,” a miniature Schnauzer, during Our Lady of Lourdes School’s annual pet blessing Oct. 6 while first-grader Parker Lily and her father Jay looked on.

Members of the first-grade class led the pet-blessing service, sharing Scripture about caring for creation. Students also learned about the life of St. Francis of Assisi, patron of animals whose feast day was Oct. 4.
