Father Thomas A. Hommrich, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, died on Feb. 22. He was 78.

Father Hommrich, a native of Louisville, was ordained to the priesthood on July 25, 1964. He served as an associate pastor and pastor of more than a dozen parishes.

He served as pastor of Holy Family Church; Holy Spirit Church in Jamestown, Ky.; Good Shepherd Church in Columbia, Ky.; St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church; St. Mary Church in Hillview, Ky.; and St. Luke Church.

He served as associate pastor of the following churches: Holy Family; the former St. Vincent de Paul; St. Augustine in Lebanon, Ky.; Our Lady of Lourdes; St. Elizabeth of Hungary; Holy Spirit; St. Ignatius Martyr; Our Mother of Sorrows and St. Leonard.

Father Hommrich also served on the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Priests’ Council, as adjutant judicial vicar of the Tribunal from 1987 to 1989 and on the archdiocese’s personnell commission from 1969 to 1973. He retired in 2008.

He is survived by his brother, Steve Hommrich; sisters, Jean Pitock, Doris Hall, Claire Frantz and Lois White; brothers- and sisters- in-law; 47 nieces and nephews and his great nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Feb. 27 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 11501 Maple Way.

Visitation will be at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison Avenue, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Feb. 26 and from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. at the church on Feb. 27.   

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following the funeral liturgy.
