Annual service for victims of violence in Africa will be held on April 12

The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry (OMM) will host the sixth annual “Memorial Service for Victims of Violence, War and Genocide in Africa” at 11:30 a.m. April 12 at St. Thomas More Church, 6105 S. Third St.

Prelude music from community choirs will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the formal service will start at noon.

According to a news release from OMM, the purpose of the service is to “come together as a community in order to commemorate the lives of the victims of violence, war and genocide in Africa through prayer and song.” The event is an interfaith prayer service for peace and forgiveness.

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz will attend, and a reception will follow the service. The event is made possible by the Catholic Services Appeal. For additional information, call OMM at 636-0296, ext. 1245.
