Students participating in the Governor’s Scholars Program at Bellarmine University last month visted Nazareth Home to share their technological knowledge with the home’s residents.
Over the course of several weeks, the high-school age students spent time working in groups and in one-on-one sessions teaching the elderly residents how to create playlists and listen to music on iPads and iPods.
The students’ visits were part of the home’s partnership with the Music and Memory non-proft organization based in New York.
Nazareth Home is a long-term care facility and rehab center that houses 168 residents. It was established in 1976 as a health care ministry sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.
School supplies
Holy Spirit Church collected school supplies for Community Catholic Center throughout the month of July. The parish donated hundreds of notebooks and folders, more than 50 backpacks and other items to the center based in the Portland neighborhood. The Community Catholic Center helps students in West Louisville, where there are no Catholic schools, attend Catholic schools in other areas and offers tutoring and other programs for families.
