Quick Recall

St. Albert the Great School’s Quick Recall Team won the Junior High Quick Recall Tournament held Jan. 12 at St. Xavier High School.

St. Albert defeated the team from Ascension School in the final match. Eight schools took part in the tournament, which was for seventh- and eighth-grade teams.

Other schools competing were Holy Trinity, St. Gabriel, St. James, St. Martha, St. Patrick and St. Margaret Mary.


McDonald’s treat

St. Nicholas Academy students took part in a re-opening ceremony of a McDonald’s restaurant at 7426 South Third St., on Jan. 8. Eighth-graders on the school’s Panther Advisory Council accepted a donation of $250 from the restaurant and helped raise the restaurant’s United States flag during the national anthem.

 

Volleyball honors

Assumption High School volleyball team was honored Jan. 11 by Max Prep Volleyball for being ranked fifth in the nation. Assumption has won four national championships and 17 state titles.


Cross country

Assumption High School’s Bailey Davis has been named the 2012-2013 Gatorade Kentucky Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. She is the first runner from Assumption to be chosen for the award.


Honors choir

Eight students from St. Xavier High School have been selected for the 2013 University of Louisville Honors Choir.

They are Geoffrey Bohn, Christian Dahlgren, David Dunaway, Alex Haydon, Caleb Lampin, Cory Lentz, Matthew Schindler and Daniel Varghese. The students, all seniors at St. Xavier, were invited to perform at a concert Jan. 14 with the Cardinal Singers and Collegiate Chorale.
