Journalism award

Trinity High School students Jonathan Dunn and Dodge Fielden won this year’s WDRB-TV “TV Journalism 101 Contest.” Their winning video features the annual Halloween festivities and lawn decorating on Hillcrest Avenue in Crescent Hill.

Journalism students from Ballard, Fern Creek, Jeffersonville, Oldham County and Trinity high schools took part in the contest.

Letters of intent

Six St. Xavier High School students signed national letters of intent Nov. 20 to play college athletics. They are: Sean Donohue (tennis), University of Alabama; Sam Melchior (baseball), Western Kentucky University; Nate Stemle (baseball), Kentucky Wesleyan College; Robert Leasure (swimming and diving), University of Virginia; Cooper Musselman (golf), University of Kentucky; and Stephen Stallings (golf), University of Kentucky.


Eagle Scout

Joshua Roux, a senior at St. Xavier High School, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest in Scouting. Roux is a member of Troop 327 sponsored by St. Albert the Great Church. For his Eagle Scout project, he constructed two benches and landscaped the pavilion at Meadowview Cemetery, the new cemetery for the indigent in the city.


Dance routine

Assumption High School’s dance team will perform its national dance routine for the public on Jan. 27 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the school’s Convocation and Athletic Center, 2170 Tyler Lane. The team will compete in the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando Feb. 2-3.
