Ursuline Sister Ruth Mattingly, a teacher, dies

Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Ruth Mattingly died Nov. 1 at Mount St. Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky. She was 83 and in her 62nd year of religious life.

Sister Mattingly, a native of Loretto, Ky., ministered in Kentucky, Missouri and New Mexico. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, Sister Mattingly served as a teacher at St. Bartholomew School from 1958 to 1966 and at the old St. Denis School from 1972 to 1984. She also ministered in the Diocese of Owensboro.

She is survived by her sister Esther Kraft and her brothers Walter and John Mattingly.

The visitation will begin Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. at Mount St. Joseph followed by a wake service at 6:30 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 5 at Mount St. Joseph.
