Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Miriam Medley dies at 93

Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Sister Miriam Medley, 93, a former principal at Mother of Good Counsel School in Louisville, died Nov. 26 at Mount Saint Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky. She was in her 73rd year of religious life.

She was a native of Loretto, Ky., and was an educator for 53 years. In addition to serving at Mother of Good Counsel, Sister Medley was also principal of St. Charles Junior High School in Lebanon, Ky.; Holy Name of Mary School in Calvary, Ky.; and Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Maple Mount.

She taught at St. Ignatius School in Louisville and St. Joseph School in Raywick, Ky., and also at schools in Peonia, Flaherty, Owensboro and in Missouri.

She was the librarian at Brescia College in Owensboro and was a pastoral minister in Princeton, Ky., and in Aztec, N. M.

Survivors include a sister, Kathleen Daugherty of Louisville, several nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

Visitation will be Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. at Mount St. Joseph. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Nov. 30 at Mount St. Joseph.
