Ursuline Sister of Louisville Mildred Mae Rueff dies

Ursuline Sister of Louisville Mildred  Mae Rueff, formerly Sister Anselm, 96, died July 20 at Nazareth Home-Clifton. She entered the Ursulines in 1946.

Sister Rueff, a native of Louisville, ministered in education for five decades in Kentucky, Mississippi and West Virginia.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught consecutively at St. Boniface, Our Mother of Sorrows, St. Rita and Holy Trinity schools from 1949 to 1959. She also served as a Title I Counselor in the Louisville Independent Schools from 1969 to 1974 and then as a counselor in the Jefferson County School System from 1975 to 1990.

She also ministered as a pastoral associate at St. Patrick Church from 1992 to 2003 and as a volunteer at The Forum at Brookside and at St. Mary’s Center in Middletown.

She is survived by her sister Barbara Duke of Lucerne Valley, Calif., her brother Irvin Rueff of Louisville, four nephews, two nieces, several great-nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

Visitation will be held at the Ursuline Motherhouse Chapel, 3115 Lexington Road, on July 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a prayer service.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be July 30 at 11 a.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel with burial in St. Michael Cemetery.
