Ursuline Sister Mary Durr of Maple Mount dies at 98

OSU-MSJ-Logo-2016Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Mary Durr died April 21 at Mount St. Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky. She was 98 and in her 80th year of religious life.

Sister Durr, a native of Paul, Neb., was an educator for 34 years. She served for most of those years as a music teacher. She taught in the Archdiocese of Louisville, the Diocese of Owensboro, New Mexico and  Nebraska, where she also served as liturgy consultant for the Diocese of Lincoln.

In the Louisville Archdiocese, she taught music at St. Michael Convent in Fairfield, Ky., from 1939 to 1940, and at St. Angela Home from 1940 to 1952. She retired in 2001.

She is survived by two sisters, Sister Catherine Durr, CSJ, of Kirkwood, Mo., and Aurelia Ann Inkret of Denver.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. April 25 at Mount St. Joseph, where visitation will begin April 24 at 4 p.m., with a wake service following at 6:30 p.m.
