Ursuline Sister Mary Clarentia Hutchins dies

Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph Mary Clarentia Hutchins, 94, died Nov. 5 at the Mount Saint Joseph Motherhouse in Maple Mount, Ky. She had been a religious for 75 years and was a native of Louisville.

Sister Hutchins was an educator for 46 years and in the Archdiocese of Louisville she taught at St. Denis and St. Bartholomew schools in Louisville; Holy Cross School in Holy Cross, Ky.; St. Catherine School in New Haven, Ky.; Our Lady of Mercy School in Hodgenville, Ky.; and St. Francis of Assisi School in Loretto, Ky. She also taught in the Diocese of Owensboro.

From 1987 until her retirement in 2005, Sister Hutchins worked with the American Red Cross Louisville Chapter and visited nursing homes and hospitals in Louisville.

Survivors include nieces and nephews and members of her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 7 at Mount Saint Joseph. Memorial gifts may take the form of contributions to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph, 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, Ky. 42356.
