Ursuline Sister Frances Mariam Spalding dies at the age of 94

Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph Frances Miriam Spalding, 94, died May 9 at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 73rd year of religious life. She was a native of Bardstown.

Sister Spalding taught at St. Francis of Assisi School from 1942-45 and was principal of St. Charles Elementary School from 1974-80, both in Marion County. She taught at Holy Trinity School in Fredericktown from 1951-54 and at Our Lady of Mercy School in Hodgenville, 1954-57. She also ministered in the Diocese of Owensboro and in Missouri.

Survivors include nieces and nephews and the members of her religious community. The funeral Mass was celebrated May 13 at Mount Saint Joseph.
