Ursuline Sister Clara Johnson, who served at Sister Visitor, dies

Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph Clara Johnson, formerly Sister Joseph Clara, died on June 12 at Mount St. Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky. She was 66 and in her 47th year of religious life.

Sister Johnson, a native of Owensboro, served in Kentucky and New Mexico. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at St. Bartholomew School and St. Francis of Assisi School in Loretto, Ky. She served as a bookkeeper and secretary at the Sister Visitor Center from 1993 to 2011.

She is survived by eight siblings: Mary Ann Kurz, Yvonne Fulenwider, Theresa Haire, Eileen Mattingly and James Leon Johnson of Owensboro; Cecilia Harnden of Bradenton, Fla.; Dolores Hagan of Hudson, Ky.; and Charles Gregory Johnson of Hawesville, Ky.; as well as nieces and nephews and her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on June 17 at Mount St. Joseph. Visitation will be June 16 at 4 p.m. with a wake service at 6:30 p.m.
