Two parishioners honored by Norton for health-care ministry

RecordLogo-FTwo individuals who attend parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville were recently honored for the work in hospital ministry by Norton Healthcare.
Peg Schervish, a licensed clinical social worker and a parishioner of St. William Church, was named the Norton Faith & Health Ministries Minister of the Year.

“Through her persistent advocacy efforts, 16 immigrant mothers of children with developmental disabilities have been guided through highly complex healthcare system requirements to obtain needed care for their children,” said Virginia Bush, a parish nurse at St. William and 2016 recipient of the Church and Health Ministries Nurse of the Year Award from Norton.

E.A. Cole, a registered nurse and parish nurse at the Cathedral of the Assumption, was named the Norton Faith & Health Ministries Nurse of the Year.
“Perhaps her most notable achievement this year was her part in arranging for Phoenix Hill Health Ministry to come on a regular basis with a doctor or nurse practitioner to provide health services to the homeless population who are served in our lunch program,” Father Michael Wimsatt, pastor of the Cathedral, said.

Norton Healthcare award both St. William and the Cathedral parishes $100 for their health ministry efforts.
