Trinity High School inducted six men into its Hall of Fame at its annual Hall of Fame Dinner on Dec. 18.
The inductees were selected for “having a record of acknowledged leadership in his chosen field or community; having a record of outstanding stewardship to Trinity measured in time, talent and treasure; having a record of outstanding performance and distinguished achievements while employed by Trinity High School; and/or having a record of outstanding performance and distinguished achievement as a Trinity High School student in academics, athletics and/or extra-curricular activities,” a news release said.
The Trinity Hall of Fame inductees for 2014 are:
- Dr. John Belanger, a 1978 graduate, has provided healthcare to “the poorest of the poor of Kentucky” regardless of the patient’s ability to pay, the news release said.
- Richard “Peewee” Carey, a former faculty member, began the Trinity Learning Center in 1969 to teach students with learning differences.
- Frederick A. Fuchs, a member of the class of 1957, was the valedictorian of Trinity’s first graduating class. Before his death in 2010, Fuchs worked in consulting and real estate.
- Father John Gephart, a former faculty member, taught math and physics at Trinity. Father Gephart was a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville for 65 years and died in 2014.
- Phillip J. Stuecker, a 1970 alumnus, led Trinity’s fundraising efforts as chair of the Trinity High School Foundation Board.
- Father David H. Zettel, a member of the class of 1958, worked as a teacher, counselor and assistant principal before he retired in 2012 after 46 years of service.
