Tree of Remembrance to be lit at Calvary Cemetery Dec. 6

Record Photo by Jessica Able
Nearly 400 people gathered around a 14-foot Nordmann fir tree at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, Nov. 30, 2018, to hang ornaments on the Tree of Remembrance.

Calvary Cemetery will continue its tradition of lighting its Tree of Remembrance on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. near the entrance to Calvary at 1600 Newburg Road.

The public is invited to hang an ornament on the tree — during the event or anytime during Advent and Christmas — in memory of loved ones who have died. Catholic Cemeteries will provide free personalized ornaments throughout the month.

Ornaments will remain on the tree until Jan. 6. This opportunity is available to all, regardless of when or where their loved one was buried. Cemetery gates will be open for entry until 6:25 p.m.
